Restored Victorian Brick House With 4 Bedrooms and 2 Baths
In a Beautiful Prince Edward County Pastoral Setting

Originally the farmhouse for a 120 acre estate, The Captain’s House* is a very private 4 bedroom 2 bath brick Victorian shaded by 100 year old Sugar Maples and Lilacs. This Prince Edward County vacation rental was originally built in 1875 and lovingly restored by the heirs of the estate. The Captain’s House is just 1.5 K from a beautiful Lake Ontario beach and within a few minutes of 15 different wineries. This all season retreat is ideal for families, beach lovers, cyclists, golfers, equestrians, wine enthusiasts, antique collectors, bird watchers, hunters, fishermen, boaters, cross country skiers, art lovers and those who enjoy fine cuisine. The front veranda and the rooms inside have beautiful views of tranquil pastures, a Century Barn and distant views of Huyck’s Bay. Once inside, you find hardwood floors, tall ceilings and spacious rooms typical of the era. The living room features large airy windows, an upright piano and a collection of interesting antiques and artifacts from the original estate. There is also a comfortable double sofa bed for those who might have trouble navigating the stairs to the second floor bedrooms.

Adjoining the living room is a formal dining room with the original dining table that seats 8 very comfortably. Adjoining that is a very well equipped kitchen with brand new appliances, countertops and cupboards along with everything you need to prepare meals for the gourmet or the gourmand. In the next room, your children will find privacy and everything they need to entertain themselves including satellite TV, Wi-Fi, a CD player, board games, air hockey and just outside, badminton & croquet. Completing the downstairs is a full four-piece bath with porcelain tile floors and a large washer and dryer. Upstairs, there are four charming bedrooms—two with double beds and two with queen beds—all with original wide plank pine floors and tasteful décor. There is also a four-piece bath with porcelain tile floors and brand new fixtures. Outside, the grounds are landscaped and the shady patio has a BBQ, a table with seating for eight and is host to many species of birds that flock to the feeders.

All in all, the Captain’s House harkens back to another time when peace and tranquility were the rule. Not the exception.

NOTES:

Check in: 4 PM – Check-out:11:00 AM
The Captain’s House includes use of a seasonal Vehicle Pass for the renowned Sandbanks Provincial Park and the nearby North Beach Provincial Park. Sandbanks features the world’s largest baymouth barrier dune formation. It has three expansive sandy beaches that some say are among the best in Canada. Outlet Beach is perfect for families, with shallow waters and a gentle drop off. Jutting out into Lake Ontario, Sandbanks Park is a bird migration hotspot in spring and fall. Walking trails allow visitors to experience the habitats. There is a daily interpretive program for all during summer months. North Beach (5 minutes away from us). On the left we find Lake Ontario – with it’s waves and average water temperatures. The other side is an inland bay. Lovely for all, especially those with children – calm water, sandy and warmer.
